Single Pole Double Throw is one of a collection of pieces that use technology as a musical and performative collaborator. Improvisation is facilitated by an interactive electronic system that projects itself into physical space through light and sound. What is unique to this piece, however, is that it is designed specifically for the virtual streaming realm as it makes use of digital silence (mirrored by darkness). Direct audio input allows the performers to “play through” the silences without acoustic sound being heard, something that would be impossible in person. Trash Cats is excited to transmit their physical space and electronic sound straight through your ears and eyes to your brain.
